so i was trying to get an idea of how one normally goes about becoming a tattoo artist

he said that he never drew or tattooed flash and never practiced on an orange. he jumped straight into custom artwork with his apprenticeship basically being to learn how to draw better. then after a couple years he got his kit to start learning how to tattoo professionally and his teacher, who was the only artist in the shop he owned, was fucking murdered. so he immediately inherited a huge list of clientele with only an inkling of an idea of how even set up his kit and tattoo.
